Initiative for systemic thinking

On February 23, one of the most ambitious proposals in education so far this year was presented at the Casa del Poeta Foundation.
This is The Handprint Initiative, an association that promotes a proposal for sustainable development in education. This association seeks to improve through systemic thinking the different threats that the world is going through in its social and ecological dimension.
This has been done in collaboration with the ESD Expert Net made up of members from various countries such as India, South Africa, Germany and Mexico. Together, a sustainability plan applicable to educational institutions has emerged in order to create pedagogical tools that have an impact on the training of students at the high school level.
As a discussion table, different academics representing renowned institutions in Mexico City shared their experience on this educational plan implemented in their respective institutions. With a lot of commitment and enthusiasm, they highlighted the importance of this project to articulate a necessary approach for the younger generations.
In addition, there was a special nuance in advancing this plan for university education, since this level represents not only a pedagogical challenge, but also an organizational one.
Among the participants of the table, the high school director of Colegio Madrid, Karla Rinette Goletto Ramírez and Sonia Abril García y Macías stand out, whose participation revolved around the relational thinking involved in this program, very necessary to break with the isolated social analysis. Also present was the coordinator of the Institute of Geography of the ENP, Paola Gabriela Cueto Jiménez, who shared her interest in approaching this program based on consumer culture.
Similarly, the general coordinator of the project, Wendy Quetzal Morel Schramm, impeccably exposed the process that led to the development of this program, resulting in the workbook titled “10 Steps for Systemic Thinking“. The CEO of X eleva Group, Pablo A. Ruz Salmones, also gave a favorable and critical opinion about this program. At X eleva Group we are proud to have helped organize this event, since it is the type of initiative that defends the values that we implement every day in the company.
Externalized by the MsC. Morel, this work material contains the methodology, examples and exercises consistent with thinking and sustainable development, which has accompanied the application of the educational model in high school level schools in Mexico City and in the world. To date, there are 4,764 students enrolled in Mexico, 259 in Germany and 62 in South Africa.
In conclusion, a consensus was perceived among the attendees regarding the improvement of educational strategies with a view to being restructured from the thinking of sustainable development. This is a sign of conviction with the goals set on the table to improve the world.
At X eleva Group, we celebrate the feat of collective action, those ideas on the path of action that seek a common good so that the future is possible.
